December 29th, 2001

Well, today you get a reprieve from long download times - I took zero pictures yesterday!  Mikey is still in the hospital.  The latest blood culture came back positive, so they are planning on keeping through Sunday afternoon, the 30th.  

Mike and Deb have been at the hospital with Mikey for the last couple of days, so Michele, Kathy and I have been taking care of the other 7 kids.  The 29th was pretty much a quiet day of playing Sony Playstation, running outside in the backyard, and eating.  Kids watched a few movies, played Gameboy, or read books, whatever typical kids do.

Saturday evening we took a trip up to the hospital with the whole group, and visited Mikey for a while.  When we arrived they were having a Fire drill, and the elevators were sent to the first floor, so we had to climb the stairs up to his room.   Mikey seemed in much better spirits, wanting to constantly get off the bed and play with the rest of the kids.  They even rolled a Nintendo into his room to play and keep him occupied.

We brought all the kids home (except Mikey) and fed them Spaghetti dinner with Garlic bread, and they played games and stayed up late until Midnight.

We are hoping Mikey gets to come home today (as I am writing this) on the 30th.  He will have to stay in town for a couple of days before the doctors will let them drive back to Chicago.  In addition, Kathy has decided to fly back to Chicago due to her work schedule.
